“A man’s friendships are one of the best measures of his worth.” Charles Darwin

Peter said today how very glad he is that Eli has forged deep and lasting friendships like the ones he has.  Palmetto folks and Penn folks, y’all know who you are.  It has been one of the great joys of Peter’s life to reconnect with many of you in recent years.  We are especially grateful to those of you who travelled to Miami to be at his big party and those of you who frequently check in to let him know how much he is loved.  (Those of you who have recently sent us baked goods and/or wine, you are truly spectacular).

There are four very special young men in the photo above.  The blonde who needs a haircut is our son Eli, who graduated from high school a few weeks ago with his three best friends – all friendships that began on soccer fields many years ago.  To his right is Ryan Hernandez (goalie) and to his left is Max Russo (center mid).  The three of them have played soccer together on excellent club and high school teams. On the far right is Thomas Biggs (who was on the same soccer team as Eli when they were four years old!)  These boys and their families have been a huge part of our family for the past several years, including literally hundreds of both club and high school soccer games. Ryan and Max leave for Florida State University this week, and Eli will join them there in August.  Tom will be just up the road at University of Florida.

We are grateful to have had all of these boys (and their parents) in our home and on #teampeter.  Now we wish them well and wrap them in our affection as they begin college.

It’s going to be awfully quiet around here.
